Yes, I have finally finished my site. It's perfect for what i want to use it for. Yes it may be just another blog but at least i can pesonlise it as much as I want. Plus I am going to have as little technology news on it as I can because that is the main perpose for this blog instead i will use as a more personal blog.
That's right, Thingamablog works and it works well, have tested it and added a commenting system. I now have changed the templatte byt still have the header image to change, then i need to make it more "homely" but so far so good. You can check the unfinished site out here.
I have made my site (sorta) but i haven't uploaded it because it just doesn't meet my needs, therefore I am going to use a program that I tried to use a long time ago but I messed it up and couldn't be bothered with it. The program is called thingamablog which is a program used to make a blog but does not require any PHP and is just CSS and HTML. I have seen it being used but the templates are ugly so i will have a bit of work to do but i will get there. It should do everything i need.
It allows you to create your entries and post them and It creates an XML file (RSS feed) but for some reason it does not have a commenting system which is stupid because it's called thingamablog but i can easily fix that. The program is also opensource.
Go HERE to find out more about thingamablog.
I haven't updated this Blog for a while, this is because i have benn busy, in between going out to places with my familly and working on a crummy site using Aptana IDE (look for a later post) i haven't really had a lot of time. My site is coming along well, but i'm not entirely sure what i'm going to do with it but it looks as though it can be turned into quite a good podcasting site this is mainly because i can use the template as a blog. Of course i would need a podcast to place on the site and anything i do with audio comes out bad but this doesn't discourage me so i will go ahead with it anyway.
Did I mention the site is coded entirely I HTML, this is because i don't know any other languages and i'm not using a PHP application such as wordpress.
I will stop rambling now.
Have you ever wanted to serve big files and video on your site without the bandwith cost? Well now you can with Red Swoosh. Red swoosh incoperates the power of p2p to make zero-cost file distrobution a reality. Red swoosh is easy to use, Just put your file URL in the "swoosh box" on there Home Page and click "swoosh my link" and they will show your new swooshed URL. You then put that on your website and watch your bandwidth bills fall.
For your clients to download your file using red swoosh they will fist have to install the red swoosh client, this is done when a client first clicks on a red swoosh link. One the red swoosh client is installed it will begin to download the file after this any swooshed link clicked on will pull the content from the red swoosh peers and not your servers.
It should be noted that if your are using the free version of red swoosh every fifth download request is shown an advertisement. This seems cool but it's almost the same as bit torrent.
I'm not gonna bother telling you about this, just watch the video. It's pretty cool.

Yet again i found myself searching my RSS feeds and yet again i found something interesting on Slashdot. This time it was an online OS called you OS. This OS features many applications such as IM, word processor, IRC and believe it or not a web browser. Yep that's right a web browser. I tested the OS out and i gotta say it is pretty cool for what it is. You could even command it using the command line interface or YouShell. The first thing i did was see if the web browser worked so i opend it up and typed in twit.tv low and behold it worked. Check out my screen shot. I gonna play around with it some more but it's not something i can see myself using a lot.
Take a look for yourself: YouOS
I was rushing through all my RSS feed that i subscribe to when something on slashdot caught my eye the words "Dvorak" and "Rants" i new John C Dvorak does a lot of articles and blogging but to see him on slashdot was the lat thing i expected. Anyway i read through the article and it's funny as a lot of Dvorak's work is. It was all about CSS or cascading style sheets and why they bug him. it's wort checking out.
After months of waiting i received a vox invite, i wasn't really expecting it this soon but it was just checking my mail before i packed up and i was really surprised that my invite arrived. I first heard about vox on commandN when Amber MacArthur suggested vox in her web picks section. I signed up for an invite and waited, and waited.....then heard Leo Leporte and Amber Mac talk about it the the podcast Inside the net. Any way i have been blogging for a couple of months using wordpress (check out my wordpress blog) and have really enjoyed it so I'm not about to stop. I got to go now, look forward to blogging again tomorrow.
P.S I love Technology.
